I love to share stories about Kayson and I don't do it near enough. But it's Friday so what the heck!?Lately, we've been working on teaching Kayson to be more self-reliant and help around the house. Don't worry, he's no Cinderella...just simple things like picking up his messes, cleaning off his plate, brushing his own teeth, getting himself dressed, things like that. It's not always easy with a 4 yr old so you're only option is to often come up with fun and creative ways to do this in order to "trick" them into it. Well last night I had a comical little backfire.
Kayson decided to eat a cupcake in the living room. I told him absolutely not and explained that we can't eat food on the carpet because...and here's the death sentence:
"if we get crumbs on our floor ants will come...and not just a couple...a lot. And they're hard to get rid of"
"if we get crumbs on our floor ants will come...and not just a couple...a lot. And they're hard to get rid of"
Dun dun dun...
The rest of my night I had to answer an ant question about every 5-10 minutes. And just when you think he's forgotten about it...
"Mom, can ants fly?"
5 minutes later...
"Mom, how do they get in our house?"
5 minutes later...
"Mom, do we have cracks in our house? Can we get rid of them?"
5 minutes later...
"Mom, are ants mean or nice?"
5 minutes later...
"Mom, will you come to the bathroom with me in case there are any ants in there? I'm scared..."
WOW. So, a lesson to be learned. Choose your words wisely when trying to coerce your young ones.
I, my friends, have just endured a backfire.

What a funny story. I catch myself saying the wrong things to Lincoln too all the time. I loved seeing your 4D ultrasound pictures. Those pictures are so sweet. They even made me cry. I swear my hormones are still messed up from nursing...that's my excuse anyway.
