Love The Ones You Love

A lot of people think Valentine's Day is a waste because you're suppose to "show your love every day of the year". Blah blah blah...we believe in showing your love every day of the year too...and we do. But this is a day to CELEBRATE that love. Kind of like Christmas. We show our love for the Lord every day of the year...but at Christmas we celebrate it. There's a difference. At least to us. It's a day for us romantics out there. We're suckers for the lovey dove stuff.
We love coming up with unique things to do for our activity date each year. We don't give gifts...we do something like go out of town for an overnighter, couples massages, fancy dinners, etc. And we love having an excuse to celebrate in our home with our children.

This year we couldn't afford to do a lot. We celebrated a few days early on Saturday. It was my turn this year. First, I decided to make it interesting. I had notecards that we each had to fill out before  the date that said "List 5 Things You Want To Do On This Date". Then we wrote things down like "kiss five times", "flirt in public", "Kiss Her Every Hour", etc. We didn't show them to eachother until the date was over so we could see if we really did them.

I took Erik to see "The Vow". I have a girl crush on Rachel McAdams big time. And he was a good sport about seeing a romance with me!
Erik was SOOOO embarrassed that I asked him to take this pic on the steps at the theater where everyone could see us. Hence the awkward faces.  Haha!

Then we went to dinner at Sonora Grill. Erik hadn't been there before and it was an amazing time.
I had more cards this time.
"List 5 Things You Love About Me"
and
"List 5 Things You Wish I Would Do"
(In hopes of making goals to better ourselves as spouses for each other in the following year)

When we got home, I had the bedroom & bathroom smothered in rose pedals and candlelight. We had foot soaks and foot massages while we read our cards to each other and shared an amazing night of chocolates and opening up to one another. It was wonderful having Erik all to myself and we only got interrupted with babies once! I was so grateful for this night with my lover. He's amazing and I'm so grateful for the love and closeness we share. He's my Prince Charming.

On Valentine's Day, the kids got some fun Valentine's from friends, and I totally failed as a mommy this year. It was my first year not doing some cute and creative Valentine's with Kayson. I just figured he wasn't in day care or school and wouldn't get any. I felt awful. The girls got their very first Valentine from their friend Calvin. It melted my heart!!
One of my favorite things I did this year was make about 40 different Valentine headbands and clips. I sold almost all of them and got to keep some for me and the girls. I'm so grateful for all the support!
Erik worked til 6am on Valentine's Day. When I woke up these were downstairs, along with a funny card and really really really sweet poem that teared me up!!
I thought it would be fun to get the chocolate fountain out after dinner so Erik, Kayson & Mommy had a chocolate party! I love my sweet boys.
