Payten & Peanuts

As a mother of triplets...I'm always looking for 3 things when it comes to feeding them.

1.Cheap!!!
2. Quick & Easy to make
3. Finger foods to help save time and impatient babies

One magical food I started was the ever-famous, kid-friendly PB&J Sandwich. It was a HIT! I cut it up into little pieces and the girls went to town.
HOWEVER...this story doesn't have a happy ending.

About the 3rd time I fed them PB&J, I noticed Payten's face break out in full hives. I thought back over the week and remembered 2 other times where spots on her face went red after eating. But I assumed that I had either wiped her face too hard or that she or her sisters had scratched it, which happens. I was about 99% sure that I had fed them PB&J on those days.

This doesn't look so bad...but I took this pic an hour after her reaction.

After some trusty "Googling" and a talk with the doctor, we discovered that Payten has a peanut allergy. And because it got progressively worse, it could continue to do so. I guess peanut allergies can be scary...and only 20% of babies outgrow them. So for now, no peanut butter (or peanuts obviously) for any of the girls...because we can't risk them sharing, which happens every mealtime!

I'm so grateful that she didn't have a really scary reaction. SOOOO grateful. I've always been afraid of one of my children having a severe allergic reaction and not having enough time to get them the help they need.

So for now, adios PB&J...loved you while it lasted....
