Sew Much Fun!

It felt like eternity waiting to get a sewing machine for my birthday. And would you believe I didn't use it until a few days ago?!! Let's just say I was intimidated. I knew opening it and learning how to use it on my own was going to take some time and time isn't something I have much of. Finally, the other day I decided to skip the dishes, skip laundry and just tackle it. Because let's face it, there's cleaning to do EVERYDAY and if I keep making those excuses I'll never get anything else done.

So I did it! I was really nervous so I said a little prayer first haha. Then I taught myself how to sew. WOW!!

It was a success. I made 10 burp cloths that day. AND over the next 2 days in my spare time I completed the project I've really been wanting to do...car seat canopies. The girls needed them bad. Looking back I wish I would've taken the time and money to buy better fabric at a high end store, but they still turned out cute. I found some cute coordinating fabrics on sale at JoAnn's and went with it. I definitely need to spring for cuter fabrics from now on though. Still turned out impressed with myself!

I love them Jess! And what are you talking about needing cuter fabrics? These are darling! I have so many projects I'm trying to finish before the baby arrives...a nursing cover, curtains, pillows...I feel like I need 2 more months.

Great job Jess! I love the fabric you chose for the car seat canopies. I buy fabric off of Etsy all the time. I think it's easier than trying to find cute fabric in the store.. I don't know why. :)

My favorite fabric shop is

I am not sure what you meant in your comment on my blog about not having any stand out talets... because you sort of have them coming out your ears!!! Holy crap! Who teaches themself to sew? Not me! hahahaha. And you made things, right out of the gate, that acually look like what they are supposed to be!! :) Impressed would be an understatement! They are Darling! You super woman, you!

I am impressed. My Mom gave me her old sewing machine and I haven't done anything with it. Its hard to get motivated when my Mom and sister are excellent seamstress. Maybe one day.... Good job lady:)
