Beauty Secrets

I'm no beauty. I have to give all the creators of my favorite beauty products most of the credit for that. Which is what brings me to this fun girly post. My close gal Kadee and I have been exchanging "Favorites" emails for the last couple of years. I've slacked lately with the babies and all...but I looked forward to these emails SO much. It was my little girly indulgence. We'd include everything from favorite make up to favorite candles, songs, movies, books...you name it. But I have adopted so many great beauty products from it and it has been so fun to share! I love exploring things I've never tried...some I've never even heard of. I'm hoping to do that for someone with this post.

I've had a lot of people ask me what products I use and I've made a list of my favorites. It doesn't include EVERYTHING I use or like. Just my favorites, my "Go To's"...the things I pretty much ALWAYS have on hand because they get used the most!

Top Perfumes

 Favorite Eye Make-Up
1. Mac Shadows. I've only been using Mac since I got married. And not much of it because I can only afford a shadow here and there. But after collecting a few, these are the colors I stick to....the shades in this pallet. Browns, Corals, Dark Purples. Some pinks. I have other shadows to compliment but I don't have a lot of Mac. I like the Eye Candy brand at Walmart/Target too!!
2. Benefit Creaseless Cream...LOVE this
3. Stila Shadow in Kitten...it's a perfect shimmery one. I use this or #2 pretty much every day
Favorite Face Stuff
I have been using a mix between Cover Girl Powder Foundation & Mineral Make-Up for years. But recently I decided to take a risk and try a Mac foundation. At first I hated the feeling...wasn't use to it. But after a bit, it blended in, calmed down and I couldn't believe how smooth my face looked. Erik knew the second I got home that I looked different. It was his comment that made this foundation a keeper! I only use it when we're going somewhere...and even then I still cover with just a touch of mineral powder.
1. Mac Foundation
2. BareMinerals Powder

 Favorite Lip Stuff
I have to have my lips done. For two reasons: 1. I have very VERY sensitive lips that turn cherry red and chap if I don't keep something on them. I even have a scar on them from them cracking so much as a child 2. I don't much like the shape or color of my lips. Don't know why. Just never felt as confident as I'd like

So here they are:
1. E.l.f. Lip Plump-Been using for YEARS (only costs $1 too)
2. Rimmel Epic Lip Liner-this is my GO TO lip liner. I've been using it for about 6 years. I can only find it at Walmart. It's the only one I'll wear unless I'm rocking a dark lipstick for an occasion
3. Korres Lip Glaze AND Lip Butter( the lightest one)-feels like heaven, I just add it on along with my liner. Or alone.
4. Stila Lip & Cheek Stain(Cherry Crush)-this is new but I've been experimenting with some dark colors for special occasions. This one is lighter than my bright red but it's casual enough for anything
5.Buxom Lip Plump-I've loved the glossiness, color and tingling plump this gives you. Wore it a lot for bridals, wedding and photo shoots. It's a little thick and sticky though so it's not your everyday gloss. Not the best for kissing hubbies and babies but still a fav!
Fav Mascara
Now this is tricky. I'm still searching for one that does everything I want. But I think it's impossible. I want separate things that can't be combined in the same brush. So for now these are my favorites and I often combine a couple.
1. Revlon Grow Luscious-my friend Kadee introduced me to this. Says its a pretty close replica to Dior Diorshow, which is a favorite for many of my friends. I think all around it's my favorite.
2. Smashbox Lash DNA-If I'm going for long and big this one is great. But only as a finisher really. The brush is so big that I can't get behind my lashes or up close to the lid without smudging...but I LOVE the look if I finish up with it after using another one. It gives it that extra oomph!
3. Urban Decay Lash Curler-I love this. The brush clings to my lashes so I can really pull out their length and it curls so well. I've never used a lash curler because I don't need one much but this really does curl great! I like to combine this with the Lash DNA sometimes because it's really strictly for curl. Doesn't do much for length or multiplying.

Nails
I use to get my nails done before I had kids. And when I got married I had them done all summer for photo shoots. But it's just not something I have the time or money to keep up with right now and it's hard to have them when you have little babies. I currently have a huge obsession with Crackle nail polish. I have different brands cuz I pretty much snag them whenever I see them. But my favorite brand and BEST QUALITY brand is the China Crackle Glaze at Sally's.
Hair Stuff
Ok so I'm not super fancy with my hair products. Could definitely use some affordable tips!  I use to love Matrixx Products...and still even like the Suave Salon Professionals knock-off versions of them. But until I can afford the nice stuff again, Pantene has been doing just fine for me. As long as I take care of my hair with leave-in and deep conditioners. Biolage is my favorite.

These are my FAVORITE  hair products! I know they aren't fancy either but I pretty much ALWAYS have these on hand.
1. Freeze It Hairspray- yes I'm an Aerosol girl. Shoot me. But getting my hair to stay put was always a problem until I discovered them. Salon hairsprays were always too heavy or staticky and honestly for $4 this is the best hairspray I've ever found!
2. Aussie Hairspray-ok so it's not my FAV but I use this as a backup sometimes. Either when I can't find Freeze It in the stores OR for scent related reasons. Aussie just has a yummy smell and sometimes I don't want my hair smelling like hairspray...this one is a great 2nd place
3. Got2B Heat Protectant-If you use heating tools it is a MUST to protect your hair. My friend Kadee sent me this one day and it was love at first spray. I love it. And it's affordable. You can find them at Walmart...most of the time.
4. Chi Silk Infusion-Who hasn't heard of this? I've loved it since I was in high school and I'll probably never stop. Not only is it perfect for protecting your hair, making it silky and calming flyaways...my favorite perk is that it smells like sexy man cologne!! I love smelling it on my hair

Favorite Lotion

Favorite Body Soap
(I've been using this for 12 years!)

A Gal's Best Friend
No woman is a stranger to teasing or "back combing". In all the years I've been religiously teasing my hair before I step out the door, I've never had a comb quite like this. It's a 3 Row Teasing Comb by Toolstructure. And it is a must have. I've freaked the few times I missplaced it.

Irons
Everyone has a straightener so I won't bore you with that. But one tool I love is my BedHead Deep Wave Artist. I bought it for about $25 on Amazon.com last yr when I was pregnant with the girls and on bed rest. I needed an easy, quick, CUTE do that could stay for several days at a time (and trust me I did JUST that). I used it a lot back then because it makes a casual beach wave look. I also tried a 40's technique with it for Halloween to create a sleek finger wave look. I've included pics so you can see what it looks like when styled casually. You can find tutorials on Youtube to see the different ways you can use it.
I use mine very loose and natural looking. Going for that natural curl look when you step out of the shower and run gel through your hair. Yeah, I don't have that luck!

And here's what it looks like

And a side shot...

Last, I thought I'd post something on my Wish List. I love to curl my hair but it takes forever and half the time my curls don't stay the way I want. The only time they ever have was when my bridal stylist curled it with a straight iron...and I still can't manage to ace that no matter how much I practice. So, there's this tool called the BaByliss Waving Wand and I've seen some tutorials for it on YouTube. It's suppose to be pretty fast and easy to use. I can't wait to snag one of these and try it out. I'm hoping it's just the tool I've been looking for.

And here's a quick clip on how it works:

What a fun post! I am for sure going to try some of your favs. Brandon's grandma gave me a ton of BareMinerals makeup. I love their lip gloss but I haven't tried the powder yet. I will have to do that.
