I Dream of Sewing

...ok not dream...DAYdream. It should come as no surprise that affording really cute and girly clothing for 3 girls, the same size at the same time is really next to impossible for us. I make what I can. People are always spoiling the girls with cute clothes and I save up for Old Navy sales and Gymboree sales (coordinating clothes-yay) but it's here and there and the girls grow fast. So I'm thinking that learning to make some things on my own is the only ticket.

I'm really into the custom, boutique girly look. But I'll never be able to afford it. Not for 3 girls. Ever. I love piecing together different fabrics & I love adding character with ruffles and flowers to plain store items. Some of my favorite brands are:

*Momi Boutique (click here)
*Matilda Jane (click here)
*ZozoBugBaby (click here)
*UpCycleMe Crazy (Find on Facebook or Etsy-they take your cartoon t-shirts and turn them into darling dresses!)

Most of these items are anywhere from $25 to $95 a piece. Soooo not affordable for us "commoners"...let alone 3 babies! Here are some looks I love and hope to recreate!! You'll be seeing a lot of these from us over the next few years. They're perfect for triplets because you can mix and match so much and really never know who wore what from day to day because of their unique style.

I actually ordered this exact Amy Butler fabric from this next dress and can't wait to use it for my dresses!

Some from Momi Boutique that I simply adore! That lady has mad talent...

I also love these easy peasant style dresses. I found a bunch on Etsy.com that don't look too hard. I can really mix and match different pieces to coordinate the girls in not so obvious ways. Adding ruffles and such with different fabric. I wanna do the same with pillow case dresses.

These are some patterns I ordered from Pink Fig (click here). They have some darling stuff! (you can find them cheaper on Amazon.com)

One day (way down the road) we'd like to get American Girl dolls for the girls and I think it would come in pretty handy to be able to make them outfits on my own since they can get pretty costly. They have so many cute doll patterns out there! Here's just one...

Last, I doubt I'll be making much for me but eventually I'd like to try a cute dress like this...

So that's pretty much it. Finding Fabric isn't as easy. I really like Fabric.com though and they always have Amy Butler fabric in stock which I love! But I'll be snagging some cute finds from local fabric stores like JoAnn's, Hancock Fabrics...and my personal favorite in Salt Lake, Pine Needles at Gardner Village. If you know of any other great places with unique fabrics please send them my way!

Obviously the girls are still a little too small to get enough use out of these dresses/outfits so the first size I'm going to try is 12 month for next summer. I'll be able to make them last much longer when they are ages 3-5 so for now I'll have to limit myself! Wish me luck...I'll need it!
