I found a picture that I love of Christ surrounded by little children. And one of the things I loved about it was that there were 3 girls and 1 boy...just like in our family. I thought it would really help our children relate to it and imagine they were those children. I couldn't afford the giant framed print that I wanted but it turns out I found an even better idea. I bought the 18 x 24 puzzle of the print (only $12) and turned it into a family project/family home evening activity...score!
We read the story of Jesus blessing the little children in 3 Nephi out of the Book of Mormon Stories book and also sang one of my favorite songs:
I Know That My Savior Loves Me
A long time ago in a beautiful place,
Children were gathered ’round Jesus.
He blessed and taught as they felt of His love.
Each saw the tears on His face.
The love that He felt for His little ones
I know He feels for me.
I did not touch Him or sit on His knee,
Yet, Jesus is real to me.
Chorus
I know He lives!
I will follow faithfully.
My heart I give to Him.
I know that my Savior loves me.
Now for the fun part. We knew this puzzle would take a while. But we had no idea how hard it was going to be. So many of the colors were the same shades so it was really hard to find pieces! In total, it took us 7 hours to put together. But it was so worth the time we spent as a family and the time we spent pondering about Jesus while we put the pieces together.
About 4 hours in...
A little Modge Podge Puzzle Saver to seal the deal
...and a gorgeous frame on sale at Michaels finished it off perfectly!
I loved this little project we did together and would love to do it again. It means so much more to us than a purchased print because of all the work we put into it and the memories we made! I hope our children will always remember how much our Savior loves THEM when they look at this picture.
