I'm 26 weeks, had a visit to the Perinatologists yesterday & it's time to document our progress! Beware, the info and images I'm sharing today may not be your cup of tea. So don't look if you're uncomfortable, but I thought it would be fun to educate! I'm a visual person...so I had to go a"googling" in order to really get it.
Last week, my cervix was suppose to be 2 1/2 centimeters long and it was only 1 centimeter.
This week, well...let's just say she pulled it up on the screen and said "where is it?".
Bye bye cervix (as totally disgusting as that sounds I'm trying to be light hearted so bear with me). It shortened all the way and has disappeared & started to dilate. I'm dilated now to 1 1/2 centimeters. That's not TERRIBLE. I was dilated to a 2 when my water broke with Kayson. But that doesn't mean I'm done. It just means there is too much pressure and weight pushing down and BED REST...even more restricted is really the best way to keep the pressure off.
This is a fun little chart that helped me understand exactly what goes on with the cervix during the stages of labor. I should be the 1st picture and I'm actually the 3rd now.

Below is a picture of how I SHOULD be looking right now. The cervix (skinny little line/tunnel just below the baby's head & just above the black bubbly part) looks about an inch or so in the pic below. This is how it should look...
This is how MY cervix is. Gone and starting to dilate...
It makes me wonder how they don't fall out! Believe it or not, some people put boards under their bed legs to try and elevate themselves so they are slightly upside down. Hilarious to me but hey, it's simple science folks. Hold me upside down and they'll stay put!I've been in that mood where you really want to just peek inside & see what your babies look like...individually and of course how they are smooshed together. I always picture them with space in between but I know that can't be the case.
I realize this pic has a big watermark across it...my apologies. But I thought it was a fun pic to see!

I cant even believe it is all happening so fast. STAY DOWN WOMAN!!!! I will come babysit you if I have to...
My mom told me that when she worked in labor and delivery that there was a woman in the hospital on bed rest that was actually tilted so that her feet were in the air to help with the pressure and dilation. Might not be a bad idea for you. Keep those babies cookin' for as long as you can.
I'm so excited for these girls to arrive - but I certainly want them to stay in there as long as possible.
I love you and I have you in my prayers. :-)
Cute, squished little critters!
Your body must feel like an indoor playground! There would have to always be one moving! Crazy! Tip that bed up... seriously! :)
